Story date:5/6/2017 2:03:00 PM

Location:Miami FL

Species:Crevalle Jack

Out for a sail south with a nice NW wind so why not troll along the way. Pretty much snagged sea grasses for much of the trip until this jack decided to bite. Not that big so back in the bay for another day.

Nice catch

Location:Iceland

Species:Cod

This baby cod was one of few hits at the first spot. I was fortunate to be one of the few. The captain had the rods rigged with banana pirk rig with treble hook. Our instruction was to let the lure go all the way until we hit bottom then jig the line erratically until something strikes. Very odd but okay. I didn't even know I had this guy hooked. I think the lure weighed more than he did.

Species:Cod

On vacation with @jetfisher in Iceland. We selected a whale watching tour that had some fishing at the end of the trip. The Captain moved the boat to his third spot when all of the sudden everyone with a rod in struck. It was pretty awesome. The first on the right is jetfisher's catch. The crew filleted and grilled the fresh cod for all of us to eat. Amazing is an understatement.

Mid-afternoon fishing after a morning of errands. We could clearly see the fish milling around but this guy was the only taker. Used jighead with Sexee Shad.

I've been under the weather for roughly a week. Having enough of staying still so I wouldn't cough, I grabbed the rod and slllooowwwlly walked to the canal. The fish wouldn't mind if I coughed. This cichlid grabbed my new Sexee Tail shad and took off into the drainage pipe. A nice fight for my first fish in quite a while.

Interesting catch. I guess that is an invasive species thriving in your warm waters? I hope you feel better, get well soon.

A beautiful day for a sail in South Florida. While @jetfisher is sailing I'm sitting on the transom fishing. Caught this Jack using a 5" Jerk Shad by #berkley. As soon as we tack back out of the sun, I'll be back on my perch.

Casted a few times before pulling up anchor at our favorite baby Jack spot. When it hooked up, naturally I thought it was a Jack but to my surprise this puffer fish was there. This was the first time experiencing this fish's defense mechanism. Kinda freaked me out but I got the hook off and him safely back in the water.

Hey Terry B Those are considered great table fair in Va. and N.C. We call them chicken of the sea. Check my page on info for them. We throw the babies back but when they run they can reach close to a half pound and I'm talking just the fillets. I've talk with people in the OBX from the mid west who set there vaction time on the blow fish run.

Cool catch, they are amazing little creatures. I don't care how old you get, it's always neat to see them inflate themselves. I agree with William, they are tasty. We catch them up here in Barnegate Bay.

I've been skunked for two weeks using the traditional rod and reel method. Upon stepping onto our boat there was a "lovely" smell. This young lad was in our dingy. 😂. The seagulls got a good dinner.

Smelly surprise. Dropped by a bird, jumped in, or a prank by a friend I assume.

TerryB

We often find half eaten small fish on the deck. This guys was intacted and quite hefty. Our guess is a bird dropped him there.

The power of Frankenlure. A short couple of days on our boat before the New Year gets crazy. Our favorite spot is usually filled with little Jacks. Been casting for 24 hours with lots of strikes but no catches. This morning I broke out the Frankenlure. One cast and Boom! Ok so it's not the largest catch but as you know - for me it's not about the catch, rather the experience. Happy New Year, Stackfish Nation. Glad you are here.

It was a Sunday like no other in recent memory. I stayed in my pj's until way after lunch, did some online Christmas shopping and some actual work while monitoring the great Ravens win on TV. Awesome!! But by 4pm I realized I hadn't moved off the couch all day so I grabbed my rod and headed to the canal. I thought it was a good idea to have more than 800 steps on my FitBit for the day.

The bass are finally coming up from the lower depths. They like this worm lure with the swim tail. Caught him close to shore near the weeds. Recent catches are not take the lure deep so pliers have not been required lately.

After a short fishing break it was back to the couch for some more work time before settling in with a good book. I'll take this kind of Sunday when I can get them. Hope yours was as relaxing as mine.

Fresh off our saltwater adventure, we hit the local water after a day of laundry and errands. @jetfisher went towards the larger pond area while I stayed in the canal. I think I hooked the same bass twice while jetfisher got nada! We were both using a 3" worm lure. Guess the canal was where they were hiding today.

While sitting on our mooring in Key West waiting for our turkey to roast, I played with these grunts. They loved striking the lure and taking the small piece of salmon off. Nothing more than entertainment for me.

Group effort catch aboard Finding Balance while trolling in Hawk Channel. I brought him in, @jetfisher held him while our friend Jim got the hook out. Once I saw the teeth on that thing I relegated myself to picture taking. 😜 That is the biggest we caught from our boat so far.

Second of four speckles from yesterday. I found it interesting that they continued to strike until they got the entire bait in their mouth. Getting the hook out of these guys was tough. Very beefy around the mouth.

Third catch of four. I had to share this today. He was a biggie!!! I was hesitant to have pic taken with glasses on, uncombed hair and still wearing pj's but hey...the fish didn't seem to mind. 😜 Yesterday I saw a fisherman wearing a flag shirt, baggy black shorts with off white leggings underneath, a camo gaitor around his neck and face and an orange hat. Quite the fashion statement. I wish I had a Stackfish gaitor to throw his way. 👹 Note to self: have Stackfish gear on board for fashion emergencies. Hahahahaha.

I was up early in time to catch the moon setting and the sun rising. A very rare treat indeed. Once the sun peeked its head out I grabbed my rod with yesterday's Frankenlure. Second cast and I grabbed this guy. Ladyfish are often mistaken for juvenile tarpon. They can be found in the back bays of Florida.

About TerryB
Just Learning
Description:
Two years ago, I began my journey into the world of fishing. I had no clue what I was doing. From selection of lures to time of day to fish, I was at a complete loss. When I did finally snag something, there was no way I was going to touch the fish to get it off the hook so I would always fish with my husband. But as the story goes, the hubby travels so if I want to fish often I needed to learn how to touch a fish. The first couple of times weren't pretty but eventually I began to grab without hesitation.
