Wintertime for me, is always a time to reflect on the fishing trips of the past year and to plan those for next years. My experience on the Lake Ontario tributaries this past fall was lack luster at best. But when I think back at the low numbers this fall, I have to remind myself that fly-fishing for anadromous fish species are as much about the pursuit as they are about the bringing fish to the net. This fall, I pursued, and pursued, and pursued some more but to no avail. Nextyear I’m sure will be better.. That is after all why we fish. That and the ridiculous stories of the unexpected fish that we actually landed and in order to keep had to throw them in the trunk of a Nissan Versa. That car never smelled right again.
