It was a beautiful day for chasing birds on the Chesapeake but for some reason the fish were not schooling today. The birds were scattered with a single quick dive here and there and then back to flight searching for the next fish.
Since it was such a calm day, I figured a topwater lure was the best fish whistle I had, so I started throwing it. I started to get some strikes by dinks so I just drifted and casted. Finally I got a larger short right at the boat. I kept working and finally got this nice 21 inch fish with about 6 feet of line out. I then started getting more and more strikes at the boat.
So I was wrong, topwater was not my best fishing lure today. The best fishing lure I have is a little expensive, it's called a Grady White 192 lol
