Story date:9/27/2014 3:29:00 PM

Location:Essex MD

Species:Bass, Striped

We intended to go out for a sail today but when we got to the club we realized the wind hadn't shown up. Since we weren't going out, I had a little time to test out a casting rig that I set up for the sailboat.

I know casting and sailboats don't mix that well. Hooks around sails, line and rigging can be a challenge to say the least. But, there are times we sail out to Poole's island and there's nobody working the light. How could any self respecting fisherman resist that?

I managed to catch this little guy with my big ole rattletrap on the jetty at the club. It was difficult to to work the lure in close since there was a lot of grass, some of which managed to stick to the fish.
