Story date:2/12/2015 4:33:00 PM

Location:Oriental NC

Species:Trout, Speckled Sea

I've really been struggling down here in Oriental recently. Today I finally managed to catch a fish, yes a single solitary fish which is a big improvement over my last several attempts. It's been cold and the trick is to find the hole the where specs are stacked up.

I caught this guy on the sinking Rapala shad rap which has been discontinued. To make a bad day of fishing into a horrible day of fishing, I managed donated my rig with the Rapala shad and one of my favorite reels (Daiwa Procyon) to Mother Nature. The wind was really blowing and I overshot my rod holder while trying to drop my anchor.

The only upside is that when I called Captain Dave @kneedeep about getting another rig, he told me that Rapala has a limited edition run of the sinking shad rap lure in the original balsa. Put me down for 10, I love that lure!
