Location:Piney Run Reservoir MD

Species:Bass, Largemouth

I finally had a chance to fish Piney Run Reservoir and it lived up to its reputation for being a great fishery. I took my Yak since it was only $8 to launch, oops make that $18 if you don't live in Carroll County, ouch.

I paddled across the lake and headed for the first cove I could find and I saw several people shore fishing. They were catching Crappie and I wasn't. As I worked closer they were nice enough to give me some tips. A very small lure and work slow. I followed their advice and still no luck.

After a while, everyone was saying that the Crappie bite had stoppe so I switched to a brightly colored spinner and started picking up a couple Largemouth. This was the largest of the day, not real big maybe a foot or so.
