I decided to take a vacation away while my wife and little girl were out of the country to fish the Cape Cod Canal for round three. The canal is a place that every serious surf fishermen should fish at least once. I am happy to report this trip as a major success! I was told by many not to use a trailer on your jigs in the canal because it's not needed because it will slow the jig down from sinking. That practice was too foreign to me so I decided to use what I knew works. I won a few samples of Fat Cow jig strips on Instagram, and this was the perfect time to put them to use. The first cast with a custom 5oz. Bucktail I had made just for my time on the Canal got hammered by this 30" plus fish. The thrill of catching my first Canal bass felt great. I released that fish because I had a long weekend ahead of me, and I just knew bigger fish were to be had. It felt good to go against the grain, catching on a jig I specifically had made for this type of fishing, and all in broad daylight...this is looking good. Stay Bent!
