Fishing Report:
Never too early to get the kiddos on the water. Had the distinct honor and pleasure to take a buddy's kids fishing for the first time. We had hits on our bobber but no hook ups. Just enough to keep the kids coming back next time. Finished up with some marshmallows by a fire. Look forward to the next time I can share this with someone new!

Fishing Report:
I stuck with the spin rod after catching the largie with listening to a fascinating story about an all female debate team in Rowanda. Yes @jimmy the podcast was on. This bluegill fought more than the largie. He was so pissed that I caught him he kept chirping at me while still in the hook. Took me a while to grab him properly to get the hook out. Again, jig head with 1" minnow.

Did go back to fly rod to finish out my morning "meditation." If I were a fish, I would stay deep in the cool water as well. Two for the morning is better than what I've done all week.

After getting skunked yesterday from the breeze and heat with the spin rod. Time to go back to fly fishing for the afternoon. This guy was hiding just in the edge of a shady spot. Three other partners came over to check out my offering, in the end this one took the fly.

Don't adjust your screen. This fish IS upside down. My line hooked his pelvic fin. Hubby quickly took the pic so I could relieve this little guy. Using the fly rod with a wet fly the blue gills were complete fascinated with the fly while the bass had no interest.

Fishing Report:
On the way home to Maryland, a visit to my niece netted me a fly rod. It had been given to her husband and he had no interest. Score!!

With a temporary MD non-tidal license in hand, @jimmy, @jetfisher and myself headed to the Gunpowder for an afternoon. No luck for any of us. Two days later I had a few hours to fish on Loch Raven. Caught two baby bluegills pretty quickly. There was a largie lurking in the grass but he had no interest in what I was offering.

Looking forward to more time with my new rod.

Fishing Report:
After a several more rounds of "batter-the-popper" #cpop another Bluegill decided to take a bite and landed in front of the camera. By this time I was on to them and I wasn't setting the hook until the line moved. One mistake I was still making was trying to use the #flyrod to set the hook. Fly fishing requires setting the hook by sharply drawing the line in with your free hand. Hard to remember after years of using the rod. I am sure I lost many due to yanking the popper right out of their mouths.

Fishing Report:
A strange thing started to happen after I tied on the chartreuse popper #cpop . The fish kept swatting at it but few would bite it. A Bluegill would slam it hard and drop back down into the depths. One even swiped it twice. It took a few of these for me to stop trying to set the hook every time a fish showed up. Finally one actually bit it and had to come pose for a photo. This might help me solve the soft bite problem I have with plastic baits on my regular rods. #flyrod

OK its not a trophy. First fish on my new Hobbs Creek Fly Rod ( #flyrod ) from Bass Pro. I purchased it last Sunday with my Stack fish winnings plus a Fathers Day gift certificate. I have only fly fished a few times before and it was 40 years ago. Tdawg invited me out to his local pond so I could practice. Less than a dozen casts later - Fish on! Lots of fun.

Bluegills love the small dry fly wasp. only the second cast for this guy to hit. Later I tried a wet fly hoping for a Bass, instead managed to hook a turtle. I did my best to get the hook out. He was not happy and snapped the tippit before I could get my pliers near him.
