Fishing Report:
Talklk about a greedy cod fish. After I took my hook out of this fish mouth I looked into its throat and it had someone else's very fresh bait, and hook lodged in its throat.

This season has proven to be one of the best seasons ever. You're looking at another personal best fish for me in 2016. This time it's a Cod 30" long 15lbs my personal best so far. I'm hoping to get a few more Cod trips in before it's too cold to fish. Merry Christmas everyone...Stay Bent!

Fishing Report:
This is my Dad David Antoine also known to me as Captain Dad. He caught this fine Cod while we were fishing on the Viking starship out of MTK. Dad caught all the cod on that trip while I caught some nice sea bass. This was a great trip, and I look forward to many more with Capt. Dad.

I hope you're not the squeamish type. When I caught this Cod fish I couldn’t wait to get it home so that I could clean it. I knew to lookout for the worms that can often be found in their meat but I was a bit taken back by the crushers in the throat of this cod. I've seen blackfish with something similar...I was glad to only find one worm.

Cod...is what's for dinner! I had been wanting to taste Cod in its unsalted form for the last two years. I had to wait until the last boat trip of 2015 to finally catch a keeper! In addition to fishing, taking photos while I fish, and writing about my fishing experience...I like to cook what I catch. Meat, starch, and a vegetable is how I prefer my meals. Cod fish, mixed vegetables, and my favorite type of rice...Jasmine! Now that's good eating. How do you cook your Cod fish?

Fishing Report:
I have desired to catch a keeper Cod for two seasons now. I only get to “Cod fish" towards the end (October to the end of December) of my striper season. Last season I caught plenty cod but none were large enough to keep. In NY they have to be 22" (you can only keep 10) to keep. This fish was 23 ". It was a nice welcoming catch for me. I just wish I could continue cod fishing during the prime time of January to February but I need to take an off season...All good things must come to an end.

Dad and I had our hearts set on getting on the Island Current out of Rhode Island. Captain Chris canceled the trip due to the marine forecast of "gale force winds, and 10" sea's" we had to scramble and got back on the Captree Princess...they're not targeting cod like the Island current so I wasn't too happy. It was either reschedule or fish the last day I'll have until April 15th...Bottom fishing it is. The bite was slow all day. The 4" seas made it a bit bumpy but it died down...not sure why Capt. Chris never saw that. The last drop of the day produced one cod and one porgy for me. Others around me were capitalizing on the porgies...it just wasn't my day today but hey that's fishing. Catch'em up!
