First, let me apologize for the poor quality photo, I'm still trying to get this "Selfie" thing down.
I wanted to get out on the water today, could not find anyone who had the day free, so I took the boat out solo.
I needed a change from drifting for Fluke and took advantage of the calm seas and ran out to deep water, 125 ft to be exact. I found some good rock piles and had at it. Codfish were chewing stuff up. Sorted through shorts and pesky Bergals to put two fat keepers in the box. All fish were caught on clams, some plain, some with chartruse gulp added, some with a red twister tail bait added. None worked better than the other, but they all worked. I pulled over 20 shorts, for awhile I thought I might not see any keepers, but 2 finally made the cut.
Pulled my crab pot up, which I usually drop in the river on the way out, nothing, one small Fluke, that's it. The crabs are gone from the river, along with the commercial crab pots. Getting good reports of crabs over in Barnegate Bay, that's where they all went.
All in all, it was a great day on the water, got away from everything and everyone today.
