Mid-afternoon fishing after a morning of errands. We could clearly see the fish milling around but this guy was the only taker. Used jighead with Sexee Shad.

Fishing Report:
I've been under the weather for roughly a week. Having enough of staying still so I wouldn't cough, I grabbed the rod and slllooowwwlly walked to the canal. The fish wouldn't mind if I coughed. This cichlid grabbed my new Sexee Tail shad and took off into the drainage pipe. A nice fight for my first fish in quite a while.

First successful catch in two weeks. Many strikes by this guy just next to the lily pads. Shortened the worn by half to make it even more enticing and it did the trick

It's about time. The long skunky drought is broken. This little guy took the entire lure. Took a bit to get it out.

Fishing Report:
Rain, thunder and a rats nest on my line didn't stop me from getting a catch today. Switching out to a weedless hook with a 3" minnow, the first cast in the grasses hooked this big guy. Call me the Queen of colorful bass.

Fished the Weston canal and this Mayan Cichlid grabbed my 3" inch minnow on the spin rig. Probably my heaviest fish so far, guessing well over 2 1/2 lbs. and 18" in length.

Fishing Report:
Why is this Cichlid on the ground, you ask? My buddy @canuck has been giving me pointers on getting the hook out of my catches. I was on the right path with this guy when he completely shook himself out of my hand landing on the pavement. I quickly got the phone out before getting him safely back in the water. Never a dull moment with me.

Fishing Report:
While hubby was chasing largies I headed to the far end of the pond in search of anything bigger than the bluegills I've been catching. Found him. This Mayan Cichlid was heavy, creating a good bend to the rod. Once again my trusty jig head with minnow did the trick.

Fishing Report:
In Florida we have Mayan, peacock and oscar bass which pretty much all look alike. So I researched how to tell them apart. It's all in the ring around the black spot on their tail. A turquoise border is Mayan, yellow is peacock and red is oscar .

About ready to give up due to sweat pouring down into my eyes, I landed this nice Mayan. Still struggling getting the hook out on my own but I'm getting better.

Fishing Report:
Okay, was spoiled by fly fishing in Colorado. Second day out since we got back. Yesterday I did get a blue gill but it shook off. This Cichlid hooked my second cast but it messed up my reel to the point I had no tension on the line any longer. No worries. Hubby is out of town so I'll use his rod until he gets back.

Fishing Report:
This morning the fish were very active in very clear water. I could see gar, catfish, bass, and bluegill, however none of them were hungry.

When the Xfinity race went into a rain delay I grabbed my rod and headed back out. Once again the fish were extremely active which surprised me for 2 in the afternoon. This time though they were nibbling. Got this guy using a jig head with a smelt.

Fishing Report:
After the first Peacock took my hook I decide to put a small jig head with a 1 1/2" minnow to get the blue gills hanging in the shallows. Nope. Another Peacock. This pic is pretty cool. For whatever reason you can't see the whole fish. Photo trickery.

Had to go back out again to get something bigger than the bluegill. This Mayan Cichlid struck on a 3" minnow. The best part is it matches my Bohtimore shirt.
