I'm almost embarrassed to post a picture of a fish this small but I'm keeping it real here in Clayton. I caught at least 15 or more, using crickets, about 1 1/2 ft deep. I loved every minute.

Fishing Report:
While waiting for the tide to ebb and get the bass feeding again broke out the fly rod and tossed a #fallsbestdarnpopper around some creek furniture and caught a few of these. . Not sure what they officially are called. Look like a warmouth pumpkin seed hybrid. Thick body, a larger mouth and more bug eyed than a bluegill. Fierce little scrappers on the flyrod.

Not only does the Shenandoah have lots of smallmouth, it has some of the fattest pumpkinseeds I've ever caught. This guy was bigger than my hand, and I have BIG hands.

Fishing Report:
Chapter 2: No this little guy did not attack the Baby Mann -1. While catching bait for big bass, my fishing buddy flung a mighty cast and all the line departed the reel (my bad, forgot to tell him there was only a little line on the reel). The bobber started moving indicating a fish on the line. We could have let it go and get to real fishing but didn't want to leave all that line in the water to cause problems for all the wildlife. As we manuveoured Bos Mon to try to net the little bugger he spooked and moved into lily pads, and shallow water. Drawing a bead on the target I tossed the baby Mann about 30 feet and right between the bobber and fish. My most precise cast in a long time and right when it counted. Also maintained my resolution to leave no footprint and always try to leave our waterways a little cleaner every time I go out on the water.

Fishing Report:
Chapter1: Bucket of Bait. After catching stripers at will on live bait, my fishing buddy and I decided to use live bait and catch the big largemouths. So I dig a few red wiggles pull a couple of old ultralights with small hooks and small bobbers and we catch 21 2-3 inch butter bean bluegills for big fish bait. After watching some you tubes it seemed a sure thing that if you put a little gill on a hook a huge bass would appear out of nowhere and throw himself on the hook. Well the bass must have seen the same video and had no part of it. So long story short, we skunked and in a spot we always catch fish. As for,the bait, all survived their time on the hook and released to grow or be bait another day.

Fishing Report:
I had some time to kill in the evening before heading out in the morning for some Stripers. I headed over to the Gunpowder river just below the small Loch Raven dam to work on my non-existent fly fishing skills. The water was really low and I didn't bring my boots so I had to work still water with my dry beetle. I had a lot of strikes from 2-3 inch fish but couldn't hook up.

Right before I left I caught this little 3 1/2 Sunny whose only claim to fame is being my first Fly and first Tenkara catch. I really wish he was a 15 inch brown, but that's a fish story for another day.
