Here is a Sea Robin caught today. I think they are cool looking. They make great strip bait, and are pretty tasty too, I eat a few a year, usually to show people how good they can be.

Fishing Report:
I received my Stackfish Big Fish Story Contest prize on my doorstep the other day. It's a large Boone insulated fish bag, and I do mean large. 30" x 65" to be exact.

It's really going to come in handy aboard my boat. My large center fishbox is great for larger fish and it holds alot of them, but its not really insulated well. I have thought about a few different ways to go about adding insulation to it so that ice will last all day or over night on those really King trips. I've done the old trick of adding salt to the ice, it has even frozen some fish it got so cold, but the ice melts after a few hours. This bag fits great inside the fish box, insulation issue solved! It had a drain plug so I can just drain it into the fish box, and pump it out via the fish boxes macerator.

I'm going fishing Saturday morning, Fluke and a few Black Seabass are my targeted spicies, which I usually just put my keepers into my livewell , keeps them alive until I get home most times. I'm going to test out the Boone bag with a few bags of ice on the hot summer day and see how long it lasts. I'll keep you updated.

Thanks Jimmy and everyone at Stackfish.com for adding to my fishing addiction.

Fishing Report:
Fluke fishing in shark river and my buddy caught a really nice blackfish (tautog) but the season had just closed so back in the wash it went. Fought like hell. Good eating fish too. Wound up with nothing but short fluke on this trip but this was highlight of the day. This trip was back in May or June I believe.

Fishing Report:
Once again i take a trip down to gropps lake to enjoy my love of fishing when I'm not on the ocean. I ride my bike whenever i feel like it or when i have enough money for night crawlers at the nearby 7 up. I equipped myself with my short rod (mostly for bluegills) and my 7 ft. spinning rod because the day before i found a dead catfish at the boat ramp, influencing my decision to give it a shot. At around 1:00 pm i arrived with all off my necessary gear (providing i can manage carrying it all on my bike). The day provided me with good excitement with a variety of different species such as bass, bluegills, and surprisingly a small snapping turtle. But as all the action took place i tossed out a double hooked rig with two whole night crawlers out into the middle of the lake from shore. I left it there the whole duration of my day until around 6:00 pm when i was about ready to go home. I was a little disappointed since no rod action took place so as i was reeling in my line i didn't expect to have much trouble, other than weeds or a turtle. But as i was pulling it in i suddenly began to feel little twitches on the line. I was of course intrigued by my unexpected hook-up and continued to pull on. But as soon as the whatever mystery creature came to the surface i felt my excitement drop to slight fear. It was an eel. A EEL!!!!!! I knew beforehand to check the species list for this lake before i fished here but never recalled that eel was on the list. So when i came to releasing it i was lucky that it got itself off the hook so that i wouldn't have to touch it. It went back to the lack unharmed and left me with a new fishing story.

While out on the boat, this little bird landed on the helm to take a break. Timing was perfect, I was at the helm, camera was within easy reach, and the wind was blowing the flag. He stayed about 5 minutes and went on his way.

Fishing Report:
This story is from last year. There was a listing on E-Bay for Live Green Crabs, guaranteed live delivery. Even though I live in a shore town on the Jersey Shore with numerous bait & tackle shops relatively close, I just had to order some to satisfy my curiosity. Well I came home from work and the package was in my mailbox. I opened it and sure enough, 2 dozen crabs, all alive. They were packed in a Styrofoam lined box with a small freezer pack ready to meet their fate in front of hungry Blackfish. Just proves you can buy anything online.

Fishing Report:
I was fishing solo out on my boat, it was a slow day, only 2 short Fluke so far. I wanted a sandwich and a bottle of water from the cooler up in the bow, so I put the rod in a rod holder and quickly went and got my lunch. As I turned back, I see my doubled over almost to the water. I immediately knew it was snagged on the bottom, but before I could get to it, Snap! Glad I bring more than one rod on the boat.

When Bluefish Attack #1

We were live lining bunker and catching some Stripers when the Yellow Eyed Demons, Bluefish, joined the party at the Bunker Pod. Here is one of our baits that was attacked by a Bluefish, chopped off right up to the head by those razor sharp teeth. This shows why fishing bunker heads for Stripers is effective, it's a natural presentation. The Stripers stay lower in the water column and eat the scraps dropped by the Blues.

Spot Burning here. A nice pair of keepers caught off of the rocks near the base of "Old Barney". Great location with an easy cast into the channel, working the bait back across the bottom can produce a nice dinner and provide a free boat show.
