fishing the Watauga gorge right on the Tennessee state line on Watauga Lake Tennessee. We used small bitsy tubes and sinkeos both black we fished all day long in the crystal clear early March spring water coming from the cold mountain streams from above. it requirrd persise drifts with flourocarbon 6lb test. Hoping that we could catch a pre spawn monster smallmouth we fought the cold and fished all day. searching the water finding that one perfect run I slowly jerked my tube feeling the thump I set the hook and immediately felt like I was connected to a cypress tree running through the water getting hung on every rock. After a few minutes I landed this beautiful small mouth that was still in her full colors fired up from the fight. I quickly snapped a shot and realesed the beauty. Hopefully to never be seen again. What a great day.!!!!!
