Hitting the lake with my father
I was giving free fishing lessons to my father or maybe he's just a great guide. Either way me 5 him 0. Everything I caught was right up on the submerged trees. About 10 ft plus of water. They seemed to really like the Culprit tomato plastic worm.

Chicken on the ground bring cats from the water
Just killing some time off at the lake. I took this one back to the father in law. He will make a nice meal out of it.

Last Monday I returned to my fishing hole. The fish patterns seem to be changing. The crappie were about 4 to 5 feet from the bank instead of in the middle of the pond. The past two times the crappie were biting the jigs faster than minnows but on this trip ithey didn't care anything about my jig but they were eating up the minnows. There were smaller crappie biting but the bass were getting more active. That will be the target on the following trips to come.

2 rods at a time
One of my local spots has been on fire all of April. On this particular day I spent about 8 hours fishing by myself. I kept about 40 crappie and 2 bass. By the time I got hone that day I didn't feel like taking a better picture. I wished I had because this doesn't do it justice.

City Bass
What started as a bass fishing trip quickly changed to crappie fishing. This was my first fish at 2pm. From then till 4pm was a crappie frenzy!

The season begins
Today a co-worker and I went to a local pond. I thought it would be more of a crappie fishing trip but the bass were already active in this particular spot. They were only interested in a white spinner bait with silver blades. I ended up with 6 bass all together. I'll headed out again tomorrow to Falls Lake.

The rapala strikes again
Have to give credit to the shad scented spray I shot on the rapala for enticing a catfish to bite.
I'll take whatever is biting as long as I don't get skunked!!

JimmyNice! Broken backs are one of my favorite lures. I only get to throw them in the early spring before the grass come in.

Getting free lessons on bass fishing from my Dad.
I ended up with 2 bass and 1 crappie myself. Nothing of any size. The weather was perfect but the fish were slow biting. Either way no one got skunked!

It's ugly, but it pulls harder than a crappie!!! Met up with a Stackfish member took a little basic advice and caught a fish. I had never caught a Sting Ray before. Your the man Will!!!

A day well spent back home. I didn't bother to keep count. They were all caught on small live minnows about 3 ft deep. I put them on ice and brought them back to Clayton. Now they are deep fryer ready.

I'm almost embarrassed to post a picture of a fish this small but I'm keeping it real here in Clayton. I caught at least 15 or more, using crickets, about 1 1/2 ft deep. I loved every minute.

JimmyWorried about a small fish? You clearly haven't seen some of my posts! lol How do you rig crickets? I've never used them as bait.

JimmyI hear they are great to eat but that's one fish I won't eat! I have them as pets in my pond so it would be like eating my dog lol

BryanHey Jimmy as far as rigging the crickets, I just take a small hook and start from just under their head on the bottom side of the cricket and pull the hook thru till you get it thru the belly of the cricket and stop. I'm big on making sure the tip of the hook is not exposed coming out from bottom of the cricket. I also have a close friend who has kept a hybrid brim in his fish tank for years now and I would not recommend puthing your finger in the tank lol.
