Meet Jimmy
I've been fishing for over 40 years and enjoy catching fish of all sizes. My favorite style of fishing is jigging and crankbaits. My home waters are the Chesapeake bay, the Neuse river and it's tributaries and the Loch Raven reservoir.

Figuring it out
I’ve never been much of a summer deep water bass fisherman, I do better in cooler weather in the shallows.

A couple of friends are showing me the deep water ropes, and I’m starting to see some results.

Slow Day
I took a break from striper fish to fish with my buddy on his reservoir rig. It was a slow day and I was only 1 fish away from the skunk!

Patapsco Stripers
It’s been a pretty good season so far this year. I moved my boat to be closer to the bay bridge and shorter trips have me fishing the Patapsco river. I’ve been doing well around structure with crank baits.

Slow day of yak fishing
I finally managed a decent bass on a slow afternoon of fishing. I found this guy hiding in a downed tree.

Courtesy of the state of Md
Some mild February weather convinced me to try my hand at some mid-winter fishing.

I caught a decent brown and this nice rainbow stocked by the state. Both were released safely to fight another day.

JimmyHi Welcome to Stackfish! Sparks, Glencoe and Monkton Md all have parking for the NCR railroad trail, these are great spots to get to the river. Further north, look for any bridge that crosses the river, most have adhoc parking sites. Good Luck!

Finally a fish!
It’s been a rough fall for my fishing since I’ve not been finding any stripers in my go to fall locations.

Between the freshwater flooding and the warm weather the fish haven’t been where I’ve been fishing.

I finally found a few stripers in shallow water including this barely legal 19 incher. With the water temps in the mid 60s, I’m hopeful things will start looking up!

Tons of schoolies
Amongst the numerous shorts, I managed 1 keeper and 1 would be keeper I had to release since he had the sores that are so common on our Chesapeake stripers.

My buddy @capt.-Jim was fishing in his boat right next to me caught a nice 25 incher.

PB Crappie
Coming in at 13 inches this is my personal best.

My buddy @claydavis83 caught a 13.5 incher on the lake a few weeks ago, so hopefully this PB won’t stand for long!

Inline bottom Rig
No tangles with this rig, just hang it over the side of the boat and wait for the fish to show.

Came up long (enough)
I’ve been coming up a little short on my recent Striper trips. Finally today I caught just long enough for a keeper.

I’m trying to learn the tried and true method of chunking bunker for Stripers since the summer has always been tough for my light tackle lure fishing.

My recent attempts chunking with a conventional bottom rig were not that successful, so today I fished a hook with a inline sinker.

This worked well since I could easily tune the depth of my bait to where I was marking fish by reeling out or in.

I fished the whole morning with my trolling motor spot locked for my anchor. I really think that motor spinning attracted them since I outfished my neighbors with conventional bottom rigs by 2-1.

Poor day of pan fishing
I caught about 5 yellow perch and 0 crappie today. All of the yellows where very small.

The bycatch was exciting though, I lost another largie at least this size at the boat.

Coming in at 12.5 inches this is the biggest yellow perch I recall catching, the largest since adult fishing for sure.

She was caught on a slow retrieve of a white keitech swimbait.

Finally a Fish
Finally a fish! I've been fishing all winter but not catching!

I took my yak to a local creek today and wasn't hooking up. I kept noticing splashes so close to the bank I figured they were frogs. Finally a splash within casting distance landed this short striper. Go figure!

Grilled Striper
We're experimenting with various ways to cook Striper this fall. Up tonight is a 21 inch Striper cooked on the Weber.

This gutted and headed fish was stuffed with lemon, thyme, oregano and salt. It also had a good rubdown with olive oil and salt.

After a good searing on both sides it was removed from direct and cooked to 130 degrees in its thickest part on the grill.

The fish and its skin were moist and delicious! The only issue was a little under cooking in its thickest part on the vertebrae. Next time we'll go 140 degrees on a fish this size.
