Here is a couple of the fishing lures that I made. Whenever you make your own lures, you can select the type and size hook that you prefer.

These large croakers were caught at Westpoint, Va.
8-22-16. They fought hard, but in the end someone had to lose. Guess who won that battle. (Me)

MY THREE VIRGINIA FISHING CITATIONS:
1) 24 INCH SPECKLE TROUT. CAUGHT 2014
2). 75 LB RED DRUM. (RELEASED) CAUGHT 2014
3). 6 1/2 FEET SHARK (RELEASED) CAUGHT 2014
The year 2014 was a good fishing year for myself and many other fisherman. I have not received any more citations since then, even though I am working very hard to do so. My motto is "Have boat will travel".

On this day 6-09-16 at the Chesapeake Light Tower, the water was calm and the spade fish were everywhere. They were swimming all around my boat, just daring me to try and catch them. I pulled out my homemade secret weapon,
that consisted of 20lb braided line tied to a large barrel swivel. I put a red bead and a green bead on it. I used a strong small hook. I did not use a sinker. I let the large barrel swivel act as my sinker, slowly lowering my deadly rig into the water.(It worked). Spade fish for dinner.

This monster catfish was caught 12-09-13 AT Chickahominy State Park, near Williamsburg, Virginia. I used a 8/0 Gamakatsu circle hook and a 2 inch piece of eel.. I used a 11 foot rod. I tied a piece of 30lb test line on my three way swivel, to use as a shock leader. I came off of the swivel again with an 8 inch piece of 30lb test line, tied directly to my hook.
All you have to do is to set your drag, and place your rod into a surf rod holder and wait. (They will bite your line).

Here are a few of the sinkers that I made, using various types of lead. This is a very fast process. You can make 100 sinkers before you know it. Always be careful when working around lead. Do this outside and always use a respirator or mask. Please read up on the procedures for doing this, before trying.
(Be safe).

AlgernonThat's really cool. About how much do the raw materials cost?
LikeReply 1 year
PARATROOPER13You will need a melting pot $80 and the molds for whatever type of sinkers you want to make. molds are about $40 each. They last forever. You don't have to worry about getting some lead, your friends will supply you with lead in order to get some of your sinkers.

These are some of the molds that I used to make my sinkers and lures. This will save you a ton of money, (and will also make you some money). You will need the following:
1) 20lb (electric) lead melting pot ($89.00)
2) Sinker and lure molds of your choice ($42.00)
3) Lead (your friends will start to bring you some lead to get free sinkers)
4) Respirator (or face mask)
5) Please read up on the procedures before attempting to do this. (Be safe).

It was a sunny day with a slight chill in the wind. I caught two togs at the 2nd island. I had to keep maneuvering the boat because of the wind, however in the end I was the victor with two togs for dinner😇🐟🐟
