Fathers Day Bass
Nothing better than Fathers Day fishing with my youngest! Especially when she lands this fatty on a Senko shortly after we arrived on station. Now she wants to go back. One of several nice fish we boated and released before brunch.

Office Call Thursday July 27
Nice 18 inch LMB stopped by My Office early as a great way to begin a Thursday morning. Great topwater action with nine more of her buddies hitting the Whopper Plopper around sunrise before the 9 to 5 kicked in.

Large Mouth Bass #200
Thanks to Canuck I started logging my catches this year. This is LMB #200 on board my boat for 2017. She dropped by "My Office" for a quick photo op early this morning. Only a few have been larger and a lot have been smaller but all have been welcome. The ever trusty Whopper Plopper was skunked today although whacked hard a couple of times that only resulted in long distance releases. This heavy fattie was caught right on the bank with an dark orange flecked Senko. On hot mornings nice size bass hang right on the bank waiting for treats to drop off foliage. Senko barely got wet before setting the hook. Another great morning on the water.

Early holiday fishing
Early pre 4th fishing at my favorite honey hole. Launching before sunrise and enjoying a quiet long paddle paid off. Topwater action with the Whopper Plopper was excellent, 10 LMB 16-18 inches, largest over 18 in a quick 2 hours of fishing before work.

Giant Northern Snakehead on bubblegum Senko
Paddled out early to catch a few Largemouth before the heat settled in. Tossed a bubblegum pink Senko against the bank where last week I was rewarded with a fiesty 6 lb bass. Got a strong hit and set the hook. Line peeled off and no bass jumped, knew then it had to be an unwanted snakehead. Bigger than the last bigun, took both hands to hoist him for the photo op. Catch date June 10.

TdawgYes, supposed to be tasty but I have not tried it. Originally brought over as an Asian delicacy but got released into the Potomac watershed as an invasive species.

TdawgMore than a handful. Being the first one I now know to use only a fish grabber and not a net. Treble hooks and a big mouthful of nasty teeth make a big mess to untangle.

Once again and the excitement of the moment I forget the camera is pointed at the sun. This was a nice fish, a 16 inch fattie and the last of the day caught on a #orangefleckedsenko.

Runt of the litter and number five bass on a six pack day back when the water was clear.

Almost washed the skunk off, but missed this one rogue bass that did not get the message they weren't supposed to bite today. Muddy water from all the rain and extremely high tide stopped the bite. Should have known better when I noticed that there were no birds fishing. At least I got in a good test on my rain suit!

A school of nervous baitfish erupted next to a low tide sandbar with a big swirl just behind. Flipped the #orangefleckedsenko just ahead of the school and fish on! #3 a fat heavy 17incher. Headed back up this weekend.

Bass #2 on a six pack bass day. First cast after slipping #1 back in the water.

First fish on first cast of the morning. Caught this 19incher and 5 more 14-17 inch LMB on one #orangefleckedsenko in an hour at a new honey hole. Bite does not last long, over when the sun takes the shadows off the bank. A tight spot to get to unless it is a high tide. Almost trapped myself this morning in an extrermely low tide. Had to employ my #traclocpushpole to get out or wait for the water to rise. Most bass boats can't get up here. Another great early morning on the water in My Office / Nucanoefrontier.

Note to self. Be aware of the sun early in the morning when posing with a really nice fish. Not wanting to keep this big boy out of the water any longer than necessary i didn't realize the early morning sun was right behind me and would wash out my SJCAM4000. This 18 inch full bodied fellow was caught on a #purplefleckedsenko. initially thought i was hung up in the grass until the grass started pulling hard. Second flip of the day, he picked up the senko less than 10 feet from the boat.

Great early Labor Day outing. Caught 4 nice bass like this 17 inch fattie within 30 minutes of arriving at the sweet spot for the summer. Caught #5 in the next hour and got out while the tide was high enough to avoid the grass and weeds. Senko color didn't matter as long as it was presented as falling off the flora along the bank. This spot is an early morning bite that always ends before 0900. The fish are still there but just stop biting as the sun rises. Another great day on the water.

If you want to catch fish don't take your dawgs fishing! Especially when they are water dogs. With some time to do a little bank fishing at the river figured I could sit on the bank with the dogs and fish a little. Knew they would get wet but mostly behave but I was completely mistaken. Looked like they were doing time trials for the canine dog paddling olympics! Back and forth, in and out for an hour. Put the rods away for dog safety and let them have at it. I'm sure there was not a fish within a hundred yards when done but enjoyed a great morning with happy wet and worn out hounds.

#blackwithblueflecksenko. When the bite is on up the creek all Senkos are on the menu. Today greenpumpkin, Orange, and black with blue fleck all did very well. With the current heat advisories it's best to fish early or just take a break for a few days.

Skunk repellent! On literally the "last cast" after a morning where nothing worked and it was getting hot fast the #greenpumpkinsenko saved the day. Tide was dropping and while getting ready to motor out ti thought i saw a few bass along the grass beds. having to get to work i hesitated the one last cast because as we all know it easily turns into 5, 10..50! The one cast was enough and My Office remains skunk free for at least the last month. Anyway this 16 incher was barely hooked and as soon as i lifted him, he flipped himself right to freedom, hence the one and only lucky pic.

While waiting for the tide to ebb and get the bass feeding again broke out the fly rod and tossed a #fallsbestdarnpopper around some creek furniture and caught a few of these. . Not sure what they officially are called. Look like a warmouth pumpkin seed hybrid. Thick body, a larger mouth and more bug eyed than a bluegill. Fierce little scrappers on the flyrod.
