Bass, Striped
Came up long (enough)
I’ve been coming up a little short on my recent Striper trips. Finally today I caught just long enough for a keeper.

I’m trying to learn the tried and true method of chunking bunker for Stripers since the summer has always been tough for my light tackle lure fishing.

My recent attempts chunking with a conventional bottom rig were not that successful, so today I fished a hook with a inline sinker.

This worked well since I could easily tune the depth of my bait to where I was marking fish by reeling out or in.

I fished the whole morning with my trolling motor spot locked for my anchor. I really think that motor spinning attracted them since I outfished my neighbors with conventional bottom rigs by 2-1.

So close yet so far
Great day out on the water with Jimmy and Clay. No keepers on that day. They were too spread out over the fleet of boats probably 30 plus boats in one spot. We were throwing the right bait just couldn’t get on the big ones.

Schoolie Stripers off Dock
Pretty cool that we get schoolie Stripers that run through our lagoon in Mystic Island. Caught this one tonight. It was about 13 or 14 inches. Caught him on a two inch swim shad casting around off the dock.

Hooking A Buddy Up
I set up a striper charter several months ago and invited my Stackfish buddy Capt. Blaq Sparrow. The bite was slow for the fleet but we did manage to catch 3 stripers with Capt. Blaq (pictured above) catching one of those. All fish were taken trolling Mojo rigs.

Just Missed
Missed the pool by 0.15 ounces. Caught on my 3rd cast of the day on a swim bait. Had one other bite on it and two on clams.

1st fish of 2018
After a long winter, this was my first catch of 2018 caught this past Saturday (I did go fishing the week before but missed my only two bites). This bass just barely missed being legal size. I caught one other short, one that just legal size and a nice 41” #28.7 pool winner.

1st Pool Winner Of 2018
Took the pool with this #28.7 striped bass last Saturday. When it first hit the bait it just pecked at it several times. I thought it picked me clean but after a long few seconds and a few more pecks, I set the hook. At first I thought it was another schoolie but then it kicked in the afterburners. I caught 3 other stripers (2 shorts and 1 keeper) for high hook honors.

Finally a Fish
Finally a fish! I've been fishing all winter but not catching!

I took my yak to a local creek today and wasn't hooking up. I kept noticing splashes so close to the bank I figured they were frogs. Finally a splash within casting distance landed this short striper. Go figure!

Bday Bass
This catch was caught on october 10th 2014 few miles off rockaway beach queens NY. It was a 41 inch beauty. School of stripers jumping out the water like tuna just pounding a school of bunker, i also used a diamond jig lure throwing into the bait bail and got lucky.

49 inch Monster female striped bass
Caught this beauty in july of 2015, 5 miles off rockaway beach Queens NY not far from the shore i was using a diamond jig, jiggin from the bottom of sea floor about 47 feet deep. At first thought i was stuck on sea bed or rock until It took off on me taking alot of line. Me and my buddy chased it down like it was a marlin but it was a great fight caught many more big ones on that trip

Light Tackle Stripers
Had bass blowing all around the boat about a hour after sun up. We put away the trolling gear and broke out the spinning gear. Great action on white 6 inch Tsunami shads and 2 ounce castable Mojos. Ended up with boat limit, while releasing another 4 keeper sized bass and 6 shorts. This one was a shade under #16.

My $6900 fishing lure
It was a beautiful day for chasing birds on the Chesapeake but for some reason the fish were not schooling today. The birds were scattered with a single quick dive here and there and then back to flight searching for the next fish.

Since it was such a calm day, I figured a topwater lure was the best fish whistle I had, so I started throwing it. I started to get some strikes by dinks so I just drifted and casted. Finally I got a larger short right at the boat. I kept working and finally got this nice 21 inch fish with about 6 feet of line out. I then started getting more and more strikes at the boat.

So I was wrong, topwater was not my best fishing lure today. The best fishing lure I have is a little expensive, it's called a Grady White 192 lol

Cape Cod Canal 2017...year of personal best!
Fishing the Canal this season was the most rewarding for myself and many others. I caught my first 30lbs class surf fish and matched it with a twin 33lbs fish on my last trip to the Canal. Many of my friends also caught their personal best fish this season on the Canal...what a year this was. Please enjoy a few of the photos, and video of some of the fish I caught this season on the Canal...Screaming Drag!
