In between catching Big round heads AKA King Fish we were catching very very large blow toads Sunday. Some think they are poison but they are not and very tasty.

Chicken or fish
Sort of strange that blow toads are still bitting in this heat of the summer. And the fact they are hitting sand flees now that's really shocking.Blow Toads are a very delisous fish and has earn the name chicken of the sea due to there meat looks like chicken thigh. So I ask the question do you like chicken or fish they both are good eating.

The ever popular and tasty blowtoads caught this past week at Avon Pier. If you haven't tried them, you're missing out on some real good eating.

Just a follow up post from today. Not many but enough for a meal and if not I'll just go to the "supply freezer" and add to some more to the batch. Can't beat it, easy to clean, easy to cook, and taste scrumptious!!!

Finally back to the water to fish. This time the NC Crew headed to Atlantic Beach, NC to fish with some fellow Stackfish members. The fish didn't cooperate like I wanted but managed to get a few Blow Fish. Real good eating. Also known as Chicken of the Sea in our area. Here's a picture of the first one of the day.

Casted a few times before pulling up anchor at our favorite baby Jack spot. When it hooked up, naturally I thought it was a Jack but to my surprise this puffer fish was there. This was the first time experiencing this fish's defense mechanism. Kinda freaked me out but I got the hook off and him safely back in the water.

williamHey Terry B Those are considered great table fair in Va. and N.C. We call them chicken of the sea. Check my page on info for them. We throw the babies back but when they run they can reach close to a half pound and I'm talking just the fillets. I've talk with people in the OBX from the mid west who set there vaction time on the blow fish run.

Fishin DudeCool catch, they are amazing little creatures. I don't care how old you get, it's always neat to see them inflate themselves. I agree with William, they are tasty. We catch them up here in Barnegate Bay.
