Summer is almost over!
With summer winding down and kiddos going back to school soon, it was still an absolutely beautiful weekend at Fort Fisher. This flounder was an inch too small to keep but a good day none the less!!

Blast From The Past
Just found this pictur from 13 years ago of my son and I with a spring time catch of winter flounder. This was about 2 weeks before my son's 9th birthday-ironically now at the age of 22 he is a mate on the same boat .

Flounder city
One of many under sized flounder we pulled out that day using a "Spec rig" as suggested by William. It was catching flounder and croaker in the inlet. Good tip that led to some good catches!

Love fishing with this kiddo! To my surprise we pulled in a flounder and got a good picture before release. It was the third time I've taken him fishing, but up until now we haven't caught anything in the small lakes we've been at. Super excited to at least bring this in!

AlgernonWilliam, I'll be up in VA beach 28 and 29 June on some leave. Don't know how easy it is for you to jump up there but any tips would help! Are those the jetties at the south end by any chance? I've seen em On my map recon of the area.

This flounder was caught at the 2nd island of the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel by the rocks. I used a red jig head and a white 4 inch grub. He fought hard, died brave, and taste good. (amen).

Two inches under size. One of two I pulled from the suds. Always surprised at how close these things are to the beach! Free running sinker and cut mullet on a 6/0 was the magic bullet yesterday.

AlgernonOh man, that's a bit of a ways from my stomping grounds way down near Wilmington. All I manage to do is rig up some shrimp and dunk it in the suds then hope for the best!
