Sorry it's been awhile since I have been here and posting, had some things going on that tied me up and kept me from doing what I love. I was able to get out last Saturday 3-4-17 and get some fishing in and shoot some footage. Mainly it was Sharknado with a few blues but here is the edited video from Saturday. Hope y'all enjoy and should have some new ones up as it gets warmer.

AlgernonThat thing is a monster. What kind of bait did you use/how far out was it? Im going to try to kayak some Baits off the beach this spring and summer.

E.C.E.F.We had been using chunk mullet, and we was throwing short casting range. Didn't even yak any baits out. Was maybe 75 to 100 yards.

Talk about an odd catch. I thought I snagged a bag or sea weed. This sand sharks went after my Freestyler at the tip of a jetty.

After sunset we stayed on the pier and watched a thunderstorm approach from the west while bottom bouncing for whatever would bite in that sand laden water. The pier was rolling so much that it felt like we were on a boat. Once the storm got close we decided to donate our bait to those who were still hanging around and I made one last cast with the squid left on my hook. Sure enough, I hooked up with another catch. "Last cast magic" worked again. I have tried many times to pretend a cast is my last and it has never worked. But quite often my real last cast catches something. Very odd effect. #dia

We came back to the Avon Pier after a longer than expected dinner. The owners allow fishers to leave and return on the same day without paying again. The tide had come up and the wind persisted but there were a lot of kids on the pier watching the action. This little guy was fascinated and bit appalled by the shark I caught. A few seconds later his Mom asked if he could pose with it while she took a photo. The pier was now swaying a bit on the rough seas. There was talk of the next day's charter being canceled. Caught on squid bounced along the bottom. #dia

Some buddies and I from the Defense Intelligence Agency Rod and Gun Club had chartered a trophy fishing boat out of Cape Hatteras. After arriving mid afternoon on the day before I seized the opportunity to fish the Avon Pier in Avon NC. A strong south wind forced us to fish off the north side of the pier with the rented rod and also stirred up the sand in the shallow water - even almost 700 feet out from shore. My buddy caught two sand sharks and on the last cast before we broke for dinner I caught this one. That last cast magic and some squid bounced along the bottom landed my first shark on rod and reel. Sure he isn't "Jaws" but at least I don't have to get a bigger boat. If you want to know about the first shark I ever caught you will have to buy me a beer sometime. Sorry no photo available for that one. #dia
