They opened up the Fishing Hole
This post was from this past Wednesday
Well the powers back on to Hatteras island so they open the bridge up to fishermen again.
I knew those sheepshead were hungry so gathered some sand flees and hit the bridge on low tide. REASON on low tide less water movement the fish get into deep holes next to the pilones . It's easy to locate them but hard to catch or get them to bite. He hit sand flee.

Early Morning Fishing
Went back to Oregan inlet early this morning 5:30am. Low tide was 4:20am for fishing that area lack tide is best. No water movement and the fish concentrate in deep holes next to the bridge pilones. .less snags and hang ups. The fight is not hooking them it's getting these fish from running back under the bridge Basen . They are experts at hanging your line on the structure..

Hello mamas and papas
A true sign that the sheepshead are about to bite are the small ones come in 1st. Then the adults slam you and if you can find a hole next to a bridge pilone you will have consist hits small and big. This one hit well I'm always one to share. The small black mussels you see growing or connected to structure. I'll post what the bait looks like and how to rig it later. Not paying attention this beauty almost snatched the pole out my hand.

Waiting on the Mamas and Papas
Fishing yesterday in Nags head the NC Crew and the rest of the fishermen had to wait out the bad weather from 6am -9:30am before clearer skies. After the rain small sheepshead were hitting. But when fishing structures for sheepshead sand flees and fiddler crabs which are hard to find work best.
(Illegal to harvest them in Va.) So we waited on the momma and papas.

Vaction time in Nags Head. Daily Sheepshead fishing . The big boys are showing up after bad weather all week
BUT rain or shine the show must go on. Sand Flees are what they are craving but also fiddler crabs will produce great results. Best to fish out going tide around any big structure

AlgernonWilliam, Im headed to the coast for fri evening and sat morning, hopefully before the rain comes. What would you say is ideal tide conditions? +/- 2 hours on each end of high tide?
LikeReply 1 year
williamI always fish 2hrs before the tide and the out going tide for 2 hrs or until low tide..Always when the tide is moving in and moving out. You can hit fish on slack tide also (high). .

Big sheepshead are here and are bitting in several locations near all structure. This great tasting monster was caught in the Inlet on sandflees. Sheepshead don't hit hard they hit very lite like a toug and puts up a good fight. Must keep pressure on him at all times until you get him in the cooler
