Trout, Rainbow
Courtesy of the state of Md
Some mild February weather convinced me to try my hand at some mid-winter fishing.

I caught a decent brown and this nice rainbow stocked by the state. Both were released safely to fight another day.

Alpha550Nice fish! I have always wanted to fish the Gunpowder. I live on Kent Islabd, where is a good access point to fish this fishery?

JimmyHi Welcome to Stackfish! Sparks, Glencoe and Monkton Md all have parking for the NCR railroad trail, these are great spots to get to the river. Further north, look for any bridge that crosses the river, most have adhoc parking sites. Good Luck!

Fly Fishing Colorado
The Bow's are in Colorado Color going into spawning season. Part of the Golden brother fishing legacy: Father Brian with his two son's Brad and Rory enjoying some Dry Dropper fly fishing on 3wt Temple Fork Fly Rods during the epic pre Mothers Day Caddis Hatch on a local stream.

Josh FavingerThanks Jimmy. Technically there two different types. This is a golden rainbow. A true Palamino doesn't have as much of the red stripe. Pennsylvania stopped stocking palomino trout a few years ago and opted for the more colorful golden rainbows. However, many fisherman in PA still call them palominos.

I stopped at the lake to fish during a lunch break one day and a NJ Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife trout stocking truck showed up for an in season stocking. I put my rod down, grabbed the camera and watched crew transfer the trout from the truck to the lake, net after net. Various species and sizes of trout, and there were some big fish too. It was nice to actually see my fishing license/trout stamp fees in action.

This is my grandson, Rebel, my little fishing buddy. We went for a visit in April this year and he aspired to fishing for more than just bluegill off the dock. I wasn't sure he'd be up to the challenge of rainbows, but he proved otherwise within about the first five minutes at Roaring River State Park. That's my Dad, Rebel's great granddad in the background.

This was our catch the last time Dad and I fished together. It was a great day for all of the right reasons. Great memories. As Dad had done so many times before he caught the first one, the last one, the biggest one and the most. Rest in Peace, Dad. You were right - we should have kept that first one!

One of my favourite photos of Dad fishing. This is the first Rainbow he caught that morning and we insisted he throw it back because with a catch limit of 5 he didn't want to keep a "small one" like this. He really didn't believe us but agreed to throw it back after we took a photo. This was late October in Northern Alberta and you can see thin ice in the distance. We trolled right through it with our fiberglass runabout. That crunching noise against the hull was a little unnerving but we didn't imitate the Titanic so it was just a good story in the end.

Our guide @peter_golden had a wealth of information on the science behind fly fishing. It was quite fascinating to learn that it's more than just picking a pretty fly and hoping you get a bite.

Peter took some time to show us the proper casting methods on land but after a few practice casts we were off to the water. He was great about dividing his attention between the two of us and always there with the net and a fist bump after the catch. To top it all off Peter provided a great array of snacks and drinks to "keep our energy us."

We can't wait to get back out there to fish with Peter again.

Pic with guide Doc with one of the largest rainbows of the day. When one fish would surface to feed 5-6 others were close by. The trout does take an easy set compared.to the pan fish we are use to landing in S FL
