MD > Gunpowder-Falls
Courtesy of the state of Md
Some mild February weather convinced me to try my hand at some mid-winter fishing.

I caught a decent brown and this nice rainbow stocked by the state. Both were released safely to fight another day.

Alpha550Nice fish! I have always wanted to fish the Gunpowder. I live on Kent Islabd, where is a good access point to fish this fishery?

JimmyHi Welcome to Stackfish! Sparks, Glencoe and Monkton Md all have parking for the NCR railroad trail, these are great spots to get to the river. Further north, look for any bridge that crosses the river, most have adhoc parking sites. Good Luck!

I was going to go fly fishing today, but with gusts up to 25 mph in the forecast I scrubbed fly fishing and just took two spin rigs. I was working a fly streamer and my trusty spinner bait.

My buddy @claydavis83 gave me some tips on catching trout on a spinner. I'll call it the "River Walk" technique since I don't really know what it's really called.

Basically you cast the spinner into fast moving water and let it wash down the stream "walking" in an arc to shallow water. Just reel enough to keep the spinner spinning. That's how I got my only fish of today.

Got out for a couple of casts below the little loch raven dam . I caught two little largemouth bass who put up a great fight for their size.

After unhooking they took a little break on my arm before going back in.

I stopped by the river today for an hour with my spinning gear. I caught this trout by working a spinner near an rock outcropping.

I'm not sure if they've stocked the area I was fishing recently, but I'm pretty sure that the 2 fish I landed were the same fish. A fish that dumb has to be a recent stocky.
