PB Crappie
Coming in at 13 inches this is my personal best.

My buddy @claydavis83 caught a 13.5 incher on the lake a few weeks ago, so hopefully this PB won’t stand for long!

Poor day of pan fishing
I caught about 5 yellow perch and 0 crappie today. All of the yellows where very small.

The bycatch was exciting though, I lost another largie at least this size at the boat.

Coming in at 12.5 inches this is the biggest yellow perch I recall catching, the largest since adult fishing for sure.

She was caught on a slow retrieve of a white keitech swimbait.

A Crappie Day
I didn’t find much action today at Loch Raven, one crappie for the day. At least it was a nice one.

Tons of Pickerel

Skunk Skunker
I would have been skunked today except for this fish. I'm pretty sure he's same fish that shook me a few minutes before I managed to land him.

Number Two
I'm a little low on some necessary fresh water tackle so I grabbed a couple of 3/8 oz jigheads from my saltwater tackle box. I got this guy with the Zoom Fluke and an unpainted 3/8 bead head jig.

williamThat's just as crazy as some fish have not migrated further south yet due to the warm weather and water. But long as they stay I will catch them.

JimmyIt was 71 degrees and I was on the sunny side of the lake. We had a cold snap after that so hopefully he got back someplace safe when the weather turned.

On the way home to Maryland, a visit to my niece netted me a fly rod. It had been given to her husband and he had no interest. Score!!

With a temporary MD non-tidal license in hand, @jimmy, @jetfisher and myself headed to the Gunpowder for an afternoon. No luck for any of us. Two days later I had a few hours to fish on Loch Raven. Caught two baby bluegills pretty quickly. There was a largie lurking in the grass but he had no interest in what I was offering.

Looking forward to more time with my new rod.

I was ready to call the skunk when I found this little guy in some very shallow water as I was walking out. A small chartreuse pantail convinced him to poise for a photo.

This 11 inch crappie was the nicest fish I caught today. Lucky for him I didn't have a cooler or he would of had a dinner invite.

The plan for today was to shore fish loch raven with a jitterbug for top water and and a rooster tail spinner for everything else.

With the clouds and occasional light rain I just wasn't feeling top water so I worked the spinner which kept getting fouled by algae and tree seeds.

I switched to jigging a 1/8 oz beaded jighead small pan tail grub. I had no luck jigging and switched to a slow steady retrieve and caught this little bass on my second or third cast after switching to the steady retrieve.

Larger of my two bass today. He was very polite so I took the opportunity to actually measure him just to gauge my visual estimate of freshwater fish.

Without the rule, I would have called him a 12" bass. I do a better job with visuals on a Stripers but I always measure dinner guests.
