Good perch bite
I found a good white perch bite today but the Shad are scarce, I only managed to land two.

With the crazy weather I figured it was worth a shot to see if the Shad have arrived.
No luck, we couldn't even catch a perch today.

Fishin DudeLooks tranquil. Always nice to enjoy the outdoors and wet a line. Hopefully the fish will cooperate next time.

JimmyI haven't fished liberty but If I had a reservoir rig I'd be fishing there or Piney Run. I haven't figured out Prettyboy yet and Loch Raven is fished so hard!

There's still some shad to be had on the Susquehanna river. I only caught around 1/2 dozen or so today. The trick today was fishing on the edge of the fast moving water to avoid hooking up with the numerous white perch and dink stripers.

I heard from a fellow fisherman that tne shad fishing was better now at the base of the Conowingo dam.

We had a great day of Shad fishing on the Susquehanna. We arrived around 4:00 PM and had constant action until dark. We caught white perch, stripers herring and hickories.

There was great water flow and the fish were very active. Some of the shad jumped as high as three feet. A great day of fishing on the mighty Susquehanna!

Here's the striper my brother caught while shad fishing being released. Unfortunately this fish was full of lesions, very sad.

I went back to the Susquehanna river to try for some American Shad with my brother. We went to the same spot where we did well with the Hickories several weeks ago.

Neither us of us, nor the other 5 guys within eyeshot landed a shad. I hooked up with a large fish at the mouth of the creek which I suspect was a Striper but he broke my line. The photo is of my brother fighting a larger Striper caught by mistake while looking for Shad.

I had a great day fishing yesterday with my brother for shad on the susky. The day started out slow but as the afternoon wore on the fishing really picked up.

This year I finally help my own with him on catching; with each of us landing around a dozen fish. All the shad were caught on a double header of old school shad darts in a pool at the mouth of a creek. Yellow, pink and green seems to be the color they liked today.

On a whim I cast out far into the river to the rip you see behind my brother and hooked up with a 24 inch striper. I managed to get him in but quickly released him since its the spawn and the regulations are very strict on catching stripers.

I've been told if you're fishing for shad and start hooking up with a bunch of stripers its best to move to another spot since you will get a little talking to and maybe even a fine if your "by-catch" is noticed by a DNR officer.

After moving to the river since Deer Creek seems to be only giving up 1 fish per trip, I was able to land my one and only fish for this evening.

This nice hickory that could not resist the flutter spoon and gulp minnow that was tied after my shad dart. We seemed to be getting all of our Shad these days on the Susquehanna with the flutter spoon, not the darts.
