Monster Blow Toads
In between catching Big round heads AKA King Fish we were catching very very large blow toads Sunday. Some think they are poison but they are not and very tasty.

The other side to the cleaning table on Avon pier. A great day of fishing had by both members of the NC CREW. Catching fish and spreading the StackFish love.
Note : Blow Toads are not poisonous they are great eating. Cleaning is a breeze. Next time I will post how.

Fish hitting lite today other then the Big Red I caught. Small Black Drums keep me busy but no big fighters. Caught this 15 inch. Black drum on fish bite with a small pc. of shrimp. If you ever want to catch big or med. size Black Drum you must fish near some type of structure.

williamI like to use 10 lbs to 17 lbs. Test. I try not to go higher test. To me the most important thing is the drag set. Also using the waves and surf to assist you to get the fish in .Also I use #3 and #6 hooks small enough to hide in the bait. Fish doesn't realize the hook until its deep in his mouth and to late to spit out.

Sorry it's been awhile since I have been here and posting, had some things going on that tied me up and kept me from doing what I love. I was able to get out last Saturday 3-4-17 and get some fishing in and shoot some footage. Mainly it was Sharknado with a few blues but here is the edited video from Saturday. Hope y'all enjoy and should have some new ones up as it gets warmer.

1st round head caught that day. Trying to hold 1 finger up to show which order they were caught. Round head are nice size and we are now looking towards getting a citation. Shrimp and cut mullet were the bait of the day.

Ok got my πŸ“žphone situated. These are the remaining post of Sundays catch. Round heads were hitting a little. The blow toads leaving is a true sign the round heads are moving in. Caught this one on cut mullet . The 1st wave of sea mullet are huge. 2nd one caught fingers shows the order in which they were caught.

This is the 2nd drum that was caught . Sorry for the sand I kept dropping him in the sand. This drum hit cut mullet and pulled the sand spike out the ground. What a fight...The NC law states 1 drum a day so he had to go back 25 inches
Phone case got wet heat from the phone caused it to fog up the phone is fine now. More pics to come.

BIG action on the jetty today. At 1st light this morning I had my pole I'm my hand ready for some action. Like always Buxton always delivers. This is 1 of 2 Big Reds that where caught today along with Black Drum and a Round Head. This 1st red measured 26 1/2 inches. Half inch from the slot. These boys hit like Mack trucks and bait for today our own clam sandwich.

Blow toad stayed the drum went back. He was just a hair short. Going back again tomorrow. Dropped phone in wet sand that's why pics are cloudy. Can you imagine being on StackFish with no camera phone

it was supposed to be a Bright sunny day but if you ever fished Hatteras the weather changes quickly. Jetty action was hot and heavy. Caught these 2 big boys as the tide turned. using the sure method rig shrimp and bite set up as shown in previous post.

Just before the tide started to go out and it was time the bail out for trip home 1 lonely round head took me bait and payed the price of getting caught. BUT today is his lucky day. He was released.
