They opened up the Fishing Hole
This post was from this past Wednesday
Well the powers back on to Hatteras island so they open the bridge up to fishermen again.
I knew those sheepshead were hungry so gathered some sand flees and hit the bridge on low tide. REASON on low tide less water movement the fish get into deep holes next to the pilones . It's easy to locate them but hard to catch or get them to bite. He hit sand flee.

williamI always fish 2hrs before the tide and the out going tide for 2 hrs or until low tide..Always when the tide is moving in and moving out. You can hit fish on slack tide also (high). .

Another of the various species of fish we catch in Hatteras. They fight some but nothing that we keep. They are usually all over this time of year down there.

This photo is courtesy of the Hatteras Harbour Marina Fishing Report. Hatterasharbour.com

The upside down sailfish flag represents the one sailfish we caught and released. I walked around the marina that evening and counted only three amongst the four dozen or so charter boats.

We were aboard the Tuna-Duck #dia

The next fish arrived after a very long wait. We tried everything in the list of jinx breakers to get a fish on the line. We even polled the group for any lurking bananas. We had all been staying out of the fishing chair so as not to jinx the cruise but I decided that sitting in it under these circumstances might get one on the line. So I explained that and asked the mate to take my picture in the chair. He laughed at my suggestion but the moment he had my camera in his hand - fish-on! 2 of 5 turned out to be a citation Wahoo. 40 lbs, 51 inches long and 20 inches around. #dia R&G club buddy number 2 was tuckered out after this one was brought aboard. Now it was my turn!

JimmyHow does fresh wahoo taste? I
LikeReply 2 years
CanuckVery tasty. It is a firm white flesh - much like Tuna except for the color. The taste is close to Mackerel but without the oil. I only have enough for a few meals and I'll have to keep an eye out for it at the fish market.

We drew lots to determine the order for landing the fish. I drew 3 of 5. The first fish of the day was on the line fairly quickly and the 40 lb sailfish put up a good fight. My Defense Intelligence Agency Rod and Gun Club #dia buddy was quite tired after getting the fish alongside for a "catch". Then we released him and watched him slowly swim away. North Carolina issues certificates for sailfish that are caught and released. Our boat captain has some work to do to file the papers - but he doesn't mind! This fast start got everyone excited about the rest of the day.
