Had Better Days
Not one of my better days as for whatever reason I just couldn’t get the bites. Plenty of fluke were caught all around me and the boat, yet I only caught this lone keeper and 5 shorts. Those close to me had several keepers and double digit shorts. Oh well, better days ahead.

Another final try after a less than exciting day on the river. I toss my line in the canal and bam! Now I can sleep soundly tonight.

JimmyDid he hit the same bait as the dink stripers or did you have to change tactics to get through the dink stripers?

Sam CaramelaI am limited to what I can use because the river is low and cranks get caught on the bottom. It can be an expensive day out unless I stick with jigging grubs.

JimmyIf I could only have one artificial lure, it would be a jighead and grub. I throw a lot of cranks myself but I have s hard time believing a fish wouldn't hit a grub worked like a crank. The only advantage to a crank in my opinion in the extra vibration they make to attract fish.

Sam CaramelaI like my cranks.. even more than the grubs. The problem is the amount of vegetation and lack of water during the dog days of summer. once fall hots I'll be back to the cranks. Spring this year was a banner year with my yo-zuri crystal minnow until a muskie stole it from me.. That said, the jighead grub is much more versatile and I cry less when I lose one.. It is to fresh water fishing what bucktails are to saltwater fishing..

I watched this beauty of a #7.2 fluke inhale my bucktail on the surface after it followed my rig up on the retrieve.
