Fathers Day Bass
Nothing better than Fathers Day fishing with my youngest! Especially when she lands this fatty on a Senko shortly after we arrived on station. Now she wants to go back. One of several nice fish we boated and released before brunch.

Office Call Thursday July 27
Nice 18 inch LMB stopped by My Office early as a great way to begin a Thursday morning. Great topwater action with nine more of her buddies hitting the Whopper Plopper around sunrise before the 9 to 5 kicked in.

TdawgMore than a handful. Being the first one I now know to use only a fish grabber and not a net. Treble hooks and a big mouthful of nasty teeth make a big mess to untangle.

Once again and the excitement of the moment I forget the camera is pointed at the sun. This was a nice fish, a 16 inch fattie and the last of the day caught on a #orangefleckedsenko.

Runt of the litter and number five bass on a six pack day back when the water was clear.

Almost washed the skunk off, but missed this one rogue bass that did not get the message they weren't supposed to bite today. Muddy water from all the rain and extremely high tide stopped the bite. Should have known better when I noticed that there were no birds fishing. At least I got in a good test on my rain suit!

A school of nervous baitfish erupted next to a low tide sandbar with a big swirl just behind. Flipped the #orangefleckedsenko just ahead of the school and fish on! #3 a fat heavy 17incher. Headed back up this weekend.

Bass #2 on a six pack bass day. First cast after slipping #1 back in the water.

First fish on first cast of the morning. Caught this 19incher and 5 more 14-17 inch LMB on one #orangefleckedsenko in an hour at a new honey hole. Bite does not last long, over when the sun takes the shadows off the bank. A tight spot to get to unless it is a high tide. Almost trapped myself this morning in an extrermely low tide. Had to employ my #traclocpushpole to get out or wait for the water to rise. Most bass boats can't get up here. Another great early morning on the water in My Office / Nucanoefrontier.

Note to self. Be aware of the sun early in the morning when posing with a really nice fish. Not wanting to keep this big boy out of the water any longer than necessary i didn't realize the early morning sun was right behind me and would wash out my SJCAM4000. This 18 inch full bodied fellow was caught on a #purplefleckedsenko. initially thought i was hung up in the grass until the grass started pulling hard. Second flip of the day, he picked up the senko less than 10 feet from the boat.

Great early Labor Day outing. Caught 4 nice bass like this 17 inch fattie within 30 minutes of arriving at the sweet spot for the summer. Caught #5 in the next hour and got out while the tide was high enough to avoid the grass and weeds. Senko color didn't matter as long as it was presented as falling off the flora along the bank. This spot is an early morning bite that always ends before 0900. The fish are still there but just stop biting as the sun rises. Another great day on the water.

Yellow perch. Go to bait in this creek now are Senko wacky rigged and Senkos of almost any color and the always reliable #redcrawdadmannsbaby1minus.

Nice bass caught by swimming #redcrawdadmannsbaby1minus over grass bed just as tide begin to fall. Been catching several like this over the last few weeks.

What is this fiesty finny critter? Must be some species of shiner. They hit so hard you initially think a real fish is on the line. Another species that loves the #redcrawdadmannsbaby1minus.Even when it is big as they are.

CanuckLooks like a white perch. There aren't many around here but they do put up a mighty struggle when hooked.

Red crawdad! As I was beaching the boat for a pit stop he was heading back in the water. As bright red as a cooked lobster! This would explain Canuck's success with his soft crawdad lure and crawdad red Baby Mann's. Probably #1 on the menu for Potomac LMB at the moment. I should have thought faster and netted him vs taking the pic and used him for bait but that would surely be a tale of chaos and entanglement in the the yak with lines, hooks, net and a very annoyed 7 inch crustacean with huge claws.

Who is this little fella? He and his buddies hit the grub like a .357 magnum round. Felt like a real fish until close to the boat. Upper Pohick creek.

JimmyMy guess is a smallmouth bass. He also could be a largemouth. Sometimes when they are that small the lateral lines on the largemouth aren't that noticeable and can easily be lost in a photo.

Caught this fiesty scrapper, a river Sunfish on flyrod with Orange popper while fishing skinny water up Pohick Creek where only kayaks go.
