Fish Smorgasbord
Enjoyable and fish filled day with Jason at the Inlet. I caught @15 fluke and one banded rudder fish. Jason had a smorgasbord with sea bass, a banded rudder fish, one big ugly star gazer, a nice snapper blue and some short fluke. He topped off his catch with this nice 22”+ fluke.

Couple of side notes; #1 we were there when they brought in the injured crew men from the sand dredging barge. Jason got a look at the injured and said one looked in bad shape., #2 We noticed a diver working east of us (nothing unusual about that)- however as time went on he not only worked his way down towards us but further off the wall until he was a good 30 feet out. To top it off, his dive flag got wet so any and all boats would have a difficult time in spotting. Anyone who knows the inlet knows that bend by the monument where both party boats and commercial boats exit and enter- well he was right in the middle. He got lucky that none of those came through, although a jet ski did run over his dive line that connected him to his dive buoy. Not only did he turn the bite off for those he was in front of (he was spear fishing). He became very confrontational when we informed him of the danger he was in and how he was effecting those of us who were fishing . I finally flagged down a passing state police boat who told him he was a dumb shit before telling him to either get out of the water or go closer to the wall. Darwinism.9/3/18.

JimmyNice Catch! What else are you catching in the surf this time of the year?

FishbonesThis is my main target right now, but have been getting puffers and some round head, few blues around as well. Still a lil early here though.

The day began at Bass Pro with a $200 GC. Whoo Hooo. A new reel for the rod on the boat and some hooks and lures for the area's largemouth population. Clearly from our adventure over the weekend we needed some advise. Our salesguy, J.D. was not exactly forthcoming at first but after I batted my eyes a few times (hahahaaha) he lead us to his preferred lure. He also grabbed some 5/0 hooks and showed me how to rig hiding the knot and burying the tip. New info for me.

So with money still left on the GC for another day we headed to a location recommended by the FWC as "prime location for largemouth bass and great for beginners." That would be us!! It actually is the same park we play disc golf. Clint was actually hopeful to catch some of his lost discs from the bottom of the pond. After an hour of dodging geese poo and avoiding the ducks nesting, oh and without a single nibble on the line we headed to location #2.

There the wind was howling so badly there was white caps in the canal and my casts landed 15-20 feet off my intended mark. Another hour of our lives passed without even a sighing of a fish (remember we are in FL and can see through our water) so we headed to our neighborhood canal where I lost five lures over the weekend. Surely with the new rig with the buried tip I couldn't possibly snag this one. Third cast and I caught the ledge. Snap!

Back at the house I put more line on the reel depleted from all the lost lures. This girl was determined to snag herself a fish by sunset so it was back out only this time I put my trusty shad swimmer back on the line. First cast, nothing. Second cast, nibbles. Third cast, strikes. Forth cast, the wind caught my line and I didn't set quick enough and the line began unraveling from the middle of the reel. Hurrying to untangle because I had fish waiting for me, I made the situation worse. By this time the sun was setting and the mosquitoes were the only thing biting. Foiled again!

A frustrating day fishing is still better than a frustrating day behind a desk.
