This fatty put up just a huge fight. He felt like a whale on the end of that line. @tdawg and I were using Green pumpkin baby brushogs aboard #bos-mon at our favourite honeyhole. Mostly just deadsticking the hogs but also on very slow retrieve and lift - twitch - drop presentations. The real trick was figuring out where they were schooling up as they kept moving about and pausing amongst the wide variety of creek furnishings present in the area. One prominent and usually highly productive feature was strangely vacant until very late in the day. #gpbh

Out once again at my favourite Honeyhole. This time with @tdawg. After he and I laid a beating on the Largies over two days last week using Senkos and Mann's Baby 1- the fish weren't touching plastic worms anymore so we laid out a banquet of Baby Brushhogs and the feed was on! Not quite as fast and furious as before but since these guys have been educated through our catch and release program it is understandable that it might take a bit longer to coax them into the boat. Then again they might just be camera shy. Fifteen in all, about 10 keepers, last year it took me until March 20th to have this many aboard Bos-Mon. Two months ahead of last year's pace! #bos-mon, #gpbh.

Out on a New Horizons Bass Anglers ( #nhba) Tournament on the Occoquan River. It has been over a month since I last got out fishing. A series of unfortunate events conspired to keep me off the water and I almost did not make it out yesterday. Late in the day I landed this short to break my run of bad luck. Even though he was not big enough to qualify I was very pleased to say Fish-On! Caught on a Green Pumpkin Baby Brushhog #gpbh beside a dock piling. First fish aboard #bos-mon since 02 October.

JimmyHey @cancuk, I'm glad to see you finally surfaced! I feel your pain, it's been a rock'in fall up here, but work has also kept my line mostly dry too.

CanuckOh that it had been work. Bad weather, illness, mechanical problems and those sneaky other commitments that creep into weekends were the main culprits. Yesterday on the way to the dock I drove three blocks before the trailer hopped off the hitch, dropped to the road and sent out a shower of sparks before digging into the pavement. I was rescued by a neighbour and my wife drove up to help get me back enroute. Once on the water I ventured into a well known creek thinking it was low tide only to discover that the supermoon is making the tides more extreme than usual and as the tide dropped further I was stranded on a mud bar for two hours. Today I got skunked. lots of fish around but two clear nights with a bright moon has them stuffed to the gills. But as they say, my worst day of fishing.....

#bos-mon Day two of the #nhba tournament. One place I know I can find clear water is my nice little honeyhole near Woodbridge. But even that was clouded up by the very high water. Once the tide receded somewhat the clear water pushed out the muddy stuff and the fish started to bite. Even so this short was the best I could do by 3:00 pm. Caught on a green pumpkin brushhog #gpbh over wood.

TdawgGlad that you found some clear water. I couldn't hang around long enough for the tide to run out.

No matter the promising beginning, it took almost 1.5 hours to land the next one. This guy put up a good fight, caught on a GP brushhog. #bos-mon #nhba #gpbh

This little guy hit the GP Brushhog hard and put up a fierce fight for about 30 seconds then just stopped. I thought he had died on the line. Fortunately he was just tired after trying to swallow a bait almost as big as him and then fighting to get away. He quickly swam off after I released him. The smallest Bass I have ever caught! So a record was set on this trip. Can I call that a personal best? Of course I can. #bos-mon #nhba #gpbh

A third Bass in the boat - once again just a 1/4 inch below legal size. That must be an abundant cohort, my guess is 2014 hatch. This one caught on a GP Brushhog #bos-mon #nhba #gpbh

Very soon after switching back to a GP Brushhog, my buddy lands this eighth fish of the day. This one was outside of the zone I had been fishing and hit it hard. Things were looking up but alas a quiet period settled upon us and it was quite a while before the next one hit. #bos-mon #gpbh

The first two of the day had been landed very quickly after we arrived. The third one was about 40 minutes after the second. During that 30 minutes we observed lots of fish swimming around including three large goldfish (possibly Koi) that I couldn't entice to bite on anything. I switched baits a lot but what finally worked for this bass was a GP Brushhog. #bos-mon #gpbh

What to do on a fine Superbowl Weekend? Go fishing of course. My buddy joined me and off we went. I landed 3 and had a long distance release of a nice one while my buddy landed five and had another two long distance releases. Great day on the water with Senkos and Brushhogs. This was my second of the day. #bos-mon #greenpumpkinsenko #gpbh

This was the first time I weighed in at an NHBA tournament. I caught them after a competitor provided a key tip that broke my drought that day. Sorry guys but if you want to know what it was you will have to join #nhba, that is not a club rule but as newcomer I don't feel right about spreading their secrets. They are happy to share with members, even during a tournament. #bos-mon #gpbh

My buddy and I caught our first double header of 2016. Notice how his camera successfully modifies the size of the fish based on who caught it. I have to get me one of those. No matter, a great day on the water and a great way to kick off a new fishing year. #bos-mon #gpbh

Fishing with my buddy on a beautiful mid-winter day. After we broke up some ice floes and meandered into this little honeyhole we started landing some eager little Bass. Just big enough to put up a good fight. My first of the new year! #bos-mon #gpbh
