There She Blows
Fishing was very slow on Black Friday for the large crowd aboard the Golden Eagle party boat. Only five striped bass were caught (3 on artificials and 2 on live bait). We did have a humpback whale around use most of the day spouting and feeding on bunker. I was fortunate enough to be able to get a picture of the one time it breached.

Most people dread the hurricane season but it brings some of the best fishing water for drum black and red and sea trout

Look Who I Found
Ran into Capt. Blaq Sparrow tonight on the Misty Morn. As soon as he walked on the boat, I said to myself that I know him from somewhere and then when I saw his shirt it clicked. Fishing was slow tonight as only 5 keepers were boated. I had 2 shorts and I believe the good Captain had 1 short

Deep sea charter Punta Cana
Been a while since my last post. On vacation I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go fishing. Charter target was Mah and sail fish. Fishing 525 feet. Of water on a 48ft boat on good seas.
But it wasn't our day 3knock downs and no hook ups. Well that's fishing

This little guy accidentally swam into one of my bottom rigs but was only slightly hooked in one of his flippers. Took the hook out very easily and snapped a quick shot before a safe release! I was worried it had swallowed the hook and all these tourists are going to see me man handle this little guy to remove it but it turned out to be not a problem at all.

After a promising Friday evening, The low pressure gave me a hard time Saturday, the only thing I caught was this little guy. I think it's funny how they grab on to hook and just go along for the ride! Will be back at it next weekend and the weather looks warm, sunny, and calm. Looking to find success out in the kayak.

AlgernonI think it is a very young blue crab that has yet to show its colors. This one was a male as indicated by the unique pattern on their underside.

I attended the Saltwater Fishing Expo today and picked up a new Seigler Reel, formerly Truth Reels, formerly Release. Name changes due to legal trademark stuff.

I purchased their newly released SGN (small game narrow) in left hand retrieve, it weighs in at only 10.95 oz and holds 375 yds of 30# braid with 30 lbs.of drag. The reel comes in a heavy canvas bag instead of a box, no manual, wrench, or oil included as with some other manufacturers, (some information is on their website), but it did come with a "show special " aluminum shot glass milled at their facility from excess stock.

The reel is 100% Made in the U.S.A. so it fits right in with my patriotic pride. I plan on giving this reel a through workout this season, throwing it at everything that swims under the boat, and will post an evaluation sometime in the future.

Man the blow toad bite really picked up close to the noonish high tide today. Caught a total of seven this weekend but ended up keeping these four. Gonna cook em up for the first time thanks to someone on here who mentioned eating them, else I never would have thought of doing it! It was a damp, windy, chilly camp out at the beach, but unexpected that these guys showed up en masse and I'm super pumped to get em In the frying pan!

Adding 3-D eyes to some Jigheads. They were self stick, but I figure they might stay on a little bit longer with a drop of glue.

I plan on expanding my soft plastics skills this season, experimenting with some new and different methods and presentations on a variety of species. Nothing wrong with fishing metal or hard plastic, or even the old bait-n-wait method, or any combination of those, they all produce, just always up for trying new things.

JimmyNothing beats the excitement of trying a new rig or new location for me. That's a big part of fishing's appeal, there is always some new to learn.

Met Branden from Bust'em Baits today at the Berkley Striper Club's annual Fishing Flea Market. They offer a new, interesting and uniquely designed soft bait in various sizes and colors, that are full of fish attracting action. I had to purchase some and I'm looking forward to giving them a try.

He is based out of Maryland so, I had to mention Stackfish.com , and he had good things to say about Stackfish's own Jimmy, whom he said he met at a show sometime back.

He stated that they are trying to increase their territory, which is why they are up north on this 20 degree NJ day. As we spoke of fishing along the Outer Banks , where they say they catch alot of fish with their products, images of the NC Stackfish Crew popped into my head, along with memories of me fishing there, the windiest place I've ever fished. Amazing how fishing can connect people far and wide.
