Savannah's second time fishing
I took my little girl fishing, and "her" first catch was an eel! Now Daddy has bait...I'll have my boy rig this up for MTK.

Hello Striped Bass
It's been so long since I caught a striper I almost forgot how they look, fight, smell, and let alone taste like. It felt real good to get the skunk off in a major way with a wine red bucktail too...Screaming Drag!

Felt great to be in the wesuit
First trip in my wetsuit for the season! I haven't gotten the respectable bass skunk off since spring. Bluefihsing remains STRONG! We had teen blues sunrise to sundown...Screaming Drag!

Skunked in the night for Stripers to find Bluefish blitzing on small bait at first light...I'll take it! The moon came through in a big way bring with it the small bait I've been looking for...only thing is during the day it seems only bluefish are around. let's see what the night tides will bring...fingers crossed for Stripers, and Screaming Drag!

This was a "welcome back" bite that was greatly appreciated. Nothing like catching Bluefish all day in a spot you knew they would be staging. Hopefully the next moon will bring the monsters, and hatch that stay put bait...Screaming Drag!

The Bluefish bite is still going strong. Cocktails ruled the day. There was a two hour run of none stop Gators...all were picky but we got it done. With so many cocktails around this signals the end of May, and time to focus on Striped Bass out East.

Gator hits the heavy SP
This is just another end to end, and slack to slack fishing trip. I almost went home when the skunk ruled they outing. I was encouraged to stay so I took a brake to at a cookie, drink a Gatorade, and a short nap. I woke to find the bite had turned on! Bluefishing like I'm use to...finally. Screaming Drag!

TerryBI can see the purple. Why do you call it a Gator. The species says Bluefish. I'm still trying to learn my fish.

Shaka Antoine @terryb, they have known names that relate to their size. The names are snapper, cocktail, and gator. To me a snapper is 6" to 4lbs, cocktail 4-6lbs, gators are 10lbs and up. I call that 7,8,9 size just Bluefish lol.

A wild night ending with Bluefish
I had one wild night on the sand, I hit a raccoon on the way to spot two. These Bluefish I bucktailed were a much needed relief to that night...Bluefish saves another trip 🎣

I hate it when Bluefish are acting picky. I had to rely on a bucktail and a Fat Cow Jig Strip to get the job done.

High winds means heavier weights are a must! I have a small window of opportunity to fish so I fish it hard! I'm no fare weather fisherman. The storm Hilts sinkers do a great job holding with less oz.

The high winds we've been having has made fishing tough. Bait is around, Stripers, and Blues are too...but I just can't get to them. patiently waiting for the wind to lay down.

This is a plug I have been trying to trade for a different plug for quite some time now without success. I am not a "plug flipper" however I can tolerate trading a plug for a plug. You might ask what a plug flipper is? It's a guy that will buy a plug with the soul purpose as to sell it for much more money. A flipper will not fish the plug just buy and sell...I can't comprehend the practice. I will buy a plug from a flipper if the price is right, but in most cases, they want more than what the builder sold it to them.

I can't help but wonder how this makes the builder feel about the practice of these flippers. If I were a plug builder, I would want my plugs to be FISHED! Not sold for a price higher than I set in the first place. That's why many plugs cost so much today. On the flipside, I know some fisherman that also flip plugs. I have a bit more respect for a fisherman that flip plugs to make some cash, but I still cringe at the practice. Because a guy like myself would want to fish custom plugs, but the flippers make it harder for us fisherman to get our hands on those beautiful works of art to cat a fish.

I wonder if this plug is meant for me to catch a fish of a lifetime on. I had been trying to trade it for a while now, and each opportunity keeps falling apart. That's going to make me use it more than the three times in the past year plus I had it now. Only time will tell.

Fishin DudeInteresting color pattern. What light conditions is that best fished in? As for custom plugs, I've got a few, some I fish with, and some are such beautiful works of art that they look great on display in the curio cabinet. IJust like most surf fishermen, I've got so many that the plug bag won't miss them.

Shaka AntoineThe color pattern is one of the main reasons why I was trying to get rid of it. I've only found a use for it in NJ. During the Fall run light green, and orange plugs get the most love in all the daytime blitzes. So I take it you collect plugs. I just feel like all plugs should be fished. I have one plug I'm retiring after it's first season because it tells so many stories about all the bites I've been a part of with it...It's scared terribly from fishing smashing it.

Fishin DudeI fish most of my plugs. Like most surf guys, I've also got some brand new ones that haven't been thrown yet, but are waiting on the pegboard. I've just got a few that I'm saving, they look cool on the stands. I'll take some photos soon. A great custom plug/fishing flea market is coming up in Asbury Park NJ on March 12th. I never miss that one.

Shaka AntoineI can't keep up with too many shows. I only buy what I need, and want to replace. The offseason belongs to the family so I keep shows to once per month. Striper data, Surf Day, and somerset are my shows I go to. I make a list of needs/wants, and do my best not to overspend. To me fishing gear are tools to catch fish with. Can't knock what others do.

Trust and believe that when your catching monster Bluefish that bigger bass are close by. Striped bass and Bluefish have a love-hate relationship...kinda like us humans. Bluefish are super competitive feeders and can swim much faster than striped bass. Stripers are lazy so they hang behind blues in a blitz to pick up the chunks that float to the bottom. Blue Fish feed stripers so that's the love part of the relationship. Given the right size, they will eat each other, and both are even cannibals. That would be the hate portion on both sides.

I know one thing seems to puzzle me. If you're catching all bass first, and then start catching blues the whole bite dies off...just the reverse order it seems to last a longer time. I guess that's one of the many reasons why most fishermen don't like catching Bluefish...I don't mind. Stay Bent!

JimmyAre you saying that If it's stripers then blues the bite dies, but it's blues then stripers the bite remains?
